Holopaw musically plays with tensions: lulling strings are undercut by anxious guitars, lilting "la's" turn sinister and demanding. Horn blasts announce a charge that is quickly clipped to a hush. The bounce of "P-a-l-o-m-i-n-e" stumbles towards chaos at the bridge only to be righted by a whimsical Bay City Rollers-esque chant. The last song on the record begins with bright, carillon chimes that stand in stark contrast to the thunderous din that ends the song like a slack jawed finale to a fireworks display. Triumphant "la's" punch through the smoke and ash to have the final say.

Recorded in Paris during fall - winter 2008, with the advised help of Cyril Guillanneuf who added some fine tuning, Hesitation blues is Acetate Zero driving its way between more tight pop lines, forgotten landscapes and shining desperate losses of separations. Since its release one year ago, Acetate Zero shared the bill with The New Year, toured in France and Belgium and let the new songs go their own.

Popidiot is Estonian-Finnish electropop group of two mad scientists Matti Peura and Hendrik Luuk, who have wrote all the songs on the record and made all the arrangements with the guitarist Rein Fuks, who is the important third member. There hasn't been made such a record before in Estonia. It's a nice dance music album, greatly produced and with cool lyrics. It's full of great songs, all killers, no fillers. Name your favorite synthpop, electropop or indiepop sounds and you find it here. Popidiot's sound is heavily influenced by synthpop classics like New Order, Human League or Depeche Mode.

From their provocative name to their lean, bright songs, Socialist Leisure Party are a band of a sort we haven't heard for a very long while. And yet, in the subtle but undeniable way they acknowledge and engage with the modern world, they are a band unlike any we've heard before. From the unashamedly romantic declaration that is "Scented Crowbar" to the band's eponymous theme song (a playful echo of Orange Juice's "Moscow Olympics"), this is music to which you can dance, fall in love, plot a revolution either personal or public.
