He then joined The Kingston Trio and led them through the volatile 1960's before he was forced to start writing songs for outside acts.  This he did in 1967 when his \"Daydream Believer\" became an international his for The Monkees.  He was a member of the post John Sebastian Lovin' Spoonful and almost formed a duo with John Denver before delivering the country-psych oddity Signals Through The Glass in 1968 with his wife Buffy Ford.
