Damaged Goods Records was born in the east of London in 1988 and has been the source of a steady flow of punk, indie and garage rock recordings ever since. It remains one of the truly independent record labels and still approaches every release with the same irreverance and enthusiasm with which it was created. Many record buyers will know Damaged Goods for offering them the trashy 1960s influenced British pop music of Billy Childish and Thee Headcoatees or the more bluesy Holly Golightly. Others might know the name from back of twee indie coloured vinyl 7"ers by the likes of Helen Love, Honeyrider or Cuckooland. And there will be quite a few who have enjoyed listening to quality punk rock re-issued from 1977-78 like The Killjoys and The Snivelling Shits as well as more contemporary punk-rock bands like The Showcase Showdown, J Church and Mika Bomb. All these bands have one of their strongest tracks on this CD. The first Cheap Damaged Goods Sampler CD was released in the summer of 1998 and was very successful. Like its predecessor, Volume 2 is crammed with 30 of the coolest cuts from the label's 13 year history all for the price of a CD single. The CD has a wonderful 8 page colour booklet with a full illustrated discography of the label and features some long deleted tracks or those which were previously only available on vinyl. Featuring tracks by: Billy Childish & Sexton Ming, J Church, Manic Street Preachers, Thee Headcoatees, Holly Golightly, Homescience, Showcase Showdown, And many others!
