Having spent the past year recording their sophomore CD in the garage of a modernist tract home in Sunnyvale, CA, the Orange Peels emerge with their home-spun effort, "So Far." The album furthers the band's explorations of the 'West Coast' Sound, but more importantly, reflects the group's maturing songwriting talents and growing mastery of local subject matter. Echoes of the day-glo Sunshine Pop that emanated from late-1960s California, heavily represented on the band's 1997 debut, "Square" (Minty Fresh), mingle on their sophomore effort with the well-honed craft of a Carole King or Jimmy Webb, tempered by the edge of a seasoned touring band.
