These Are Powers' music is composed spontaneously through improvisation and collaboration. Focusing on tight, cyclical, incrementally shifting grooves smeared with spectral guitar and banshee vocals – rather than the general entropy favored by many improvising units – the band upends traditional stylistic expectations of acts operating within the noise-punk continuum. The recent addition of Bill Salas (aka Brenmar) allows Anna Barie and Pat Noecker to further develop their concept of the band as arbiters of "ghost-punk" – that is, an expansion and evolution into the emotional resonance of repetition of the unfamiliar. Terrific Seasons is their first full-length album and is the follow up to These Are Powers (self-titled) EP (self-released, 2006), The South Angel Remixes EP (self-released, 2006) and Silver Lung/Funeral Xylophone 7" single (Elsie and Jack, 2007).
