2 tracks from Crest, 3 from Fleece. crest's 'the small details' is a lovely acoustic guitar-driven pop song with a big, big chorus. a paean to the joys of domesticity and living with your girlfriend or boyfriend. "fret" has a kind of new order-ish feel to the vocals and is a noisier affair. Fleece's "man from mars" is another strange little gem, weird lyrics, a blast of megaphone vocal against a ziggy-era glam pop-noise song. phew... track four is a stripped-down/acoustic version of "18 days in space" and track 5 is a new song called "up donna 5" which is absolutely gorgeous. "up donna 5" was written (from scratch), recorded and mixed in one four hour session at purple when the band were meant to be recording "man from mars" but drummer adrian had got himself trapped in a lift at the lotus car factory...
