With Atlanta's Rock Coaches, it can sometimes be hard to tell if they are laughing with you or laughing AT you. When the band takes the stage, dressed in their uniforms of bright green pants and white dress shirts, there is cleary some tongue-in-cheek posturing going on. The Major hovers above his keyboards wearing an eyepatch that invites Momus comparisons, Seth Grad Party bashes away at his drum kit and Sarah Last Name Party brings the noise on the guitar. Things get kinda goofy in a Kiss-Offs/Junior Varsity kinda way on the sing-along album opener, "Rock Coaches Theme." The band is inspired heavily not by some obscure 70s band, but instead by a TV show - HBO's Mr. Show. Seth Grad Party used to play in a band called Famous Mortimer (a Mr. Show reference), and the band covers the Mr. Show theme song on this album. Packaged with wonderful clear artwork. The CD is also enhanced with a music video and tons of other mindless info. that you can waste time looking at.
