Crash Pop, Fuzzed out guitars. Languid vocals. Break-beat drum machine. slow motion avalanche. All descriptive terms for the music of Chicago's Panda Riot. Brian Cook, Rebecca Scott, and a drum machine formed Panda Riot in July of 2005 while working on a short film. The underwater scenes and airplane shots inspired a blissful, swirl-pop, sing-along, sonar sort of aesthetic that was so delightful, they made a band of it. Rebecca's breathy soprano wafts above the dancy drum machine beats, blown-out guitar booms, and a keyboard plugged into a death metal pedal. Their music has been compared to Portishead, My Bloody Valentine, and The Swirlies.
