Multi-instrumentalist, composer, and leader of the Acid Mothers Temple, Kawabata Makoto uses this solo performance to express all his mantric cosmic vocation to space sonorities! He took inspiration from the Popul Vuh album Hosianna Mantra during his visit to A Silent Place's headquarters in late Winter 2006. On a sunny Sunday afternoon spent in the countryside eating and drinking Apulian specialties and listening to some great experimental records, Makoto and his Italian friends Pierpaolo and Pasquale made the decision to start this cooperation. Back in Japan a few days later, Makoto recorded Hosanna Mantra at the Acid Mothers Temple using electric guitar, bouzouki, and sitar. In his own words, "Music, for me, is neither something that I create, nor a form of selfexpression. All kinds of sounds exist everywhere around us, and my performances solely consist of picking up these sounds, like a radio tuner, and playing them so that people can hear them." The result is this new fantastic sound from the cosmos—a quite simple gem of crystalline beauty. Kawabata Makoto is leader of the Acid Mothers Temple. Packaged in a luxurious gatefold sleeve! Front cover photo by Kawabata Makoto features the Castel del Monte, a mystical thirteenthcentury octagonal castle located in Andria. "Two epic pieces, both deeply meditative and transcendental compositions." — Dusted
