Recommended! For fans of Low, Sigur Ros, My Bloody Valentine, Explosions in the Sky, M83, Spiritualized, and all the other names we usually drop when we dig something here. These Irish shoegazers busted out this 5-track mini-album/EP in September 2006. The Butterfly Explosion came together in the latter part of 2004 with the full line-up completed as recording began on their debut EP "Vision" in the Spring of 2005. The EP received radio support from Glasgow(Jim Gellatly XFM) to L.A.(Nic Harcourt KCRW) and college stations throughout the US as the band were selected to play at Glasgow's Musicworks festival (Sept '05) and the SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas, along with Irish artists Gemma Hayes, The Walls and The Chalets (March '06). They've since played with bands such as Giant Drag, The Like, The Delays, Tilly and The Wall, Film School and Serena Maneesh at premier venues in London, Dublin and New York. In June 2006 they were one of eight artists selected to perform at the IMRO "Best Of Tour" showcase - an annual showcase featuring the best upcoming acts in Ireland.
"Turn The Sky, their new EP, is quite glorious. Like a loved-up Radiohead, Butterfly Explosion deal in weighty dirges but with choruses you can hum on the bus" ****(SINGLE OF THE WEEK) - The Metro (Dublin)
"little bits of the noisy sounds of SLOWDIVE, the wailing distorted guitars of MY BLOODY VALENTINE and even the slow building post rock of the likes of MOGWAI, lots of heavy swirling guitars, lush synths and thunderous but slow building drums" (SINGLE OF THE WEEK) - www.RoadRecs.com
""one of the best new bands I have heard in sometime. And with their layered and textured sound - I am sure they will not remain a hidden secret for long. Highly recommended." - www.lostmusic.co.uk
