When DC heroes Lorelei disbanded a few years ago, Matt Dinghee (guitarist/vocalist) formed "Lu" with some other folks and debuted their songs in a live performance after the last Indie Rock Flea Market ever, above Go Discs. LU features members formerly (and in some cases still active) in Lorelei, Gloworm, the Saturday People, Macitajs On Acid, The Incident, Whorl, Candleman, and TheLilys. Now, the sounds of Lu are seeing the light of day via the debut release on Textile Sounds. The songs are fabulous instrumental tracks with an ultra driving force behind them with a subtle groove. Sounds permeate your ears - a guitar here, a warbling loop there, and what was that, with the echo/delay/reverb effect?, and a percussive backbeat to move your feet and seat. These 4 tracks were recorded at the 11thandP studio in Washington, DC by trevOr HollAnd over the course of 2 sessions. Glass-like thick clear vinyl housed in clear bag with center-labels designed by electronic composer Richard Chartier. Nice!
